Mass Communication Division
Business Meeting Minutes
April 8, 2022

There were no officers present at the Mass Communication Division business meeting, nor had any members in attendance heard from the Division’s officers. The members of the division determined that this constituted “vacancy” and elected new officers to fill the vacated offices (in accordance with the Division’s bylaws).

Brian Brantley (Texas A&M University — San Antonio) was elected to fill the vacated office of Chair for the 2022-23 term.

Barry Smith (Mississippi University for Women) was elected to fill the vacated office of Vice Chair for the 2022-23 term. He agreed to attend the 2023 Planners’ Meeting at this year’s convention.

Melissa Smith (Mississippi University for Women) was elected to fill the vacated office of Secretary/Vice Chair-Elect for the 2022-23 term.

There was general consensus among the members in attendance that the Division was still experiencing after-effects from the Covid-19 pandemic, in terms of participation within the Division.

The Division officer listing form was completed for SSCA’s Executive Director.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
